This page documents how ComplianceKitchen collects informed SMS consent from customers during account setup, including the exact disclosure language, opt-out instructions, and sample message types.

1 Sender identity

SMS messages are sent by ComplianceKitchen, a California restaurant compliance software company. Messages originate from a dedicated business phone number registered to ComplianceKitchen. The sender name "ComplianceKitchen" appears in every message.

ComplianceKitchen does not share, sell, or transfer customer phone numbers to third parties for marketing purposes.

2 Where consent is collected

Consent is collected during the account setup flow — after the customer has already chosen to create a ComplianceKitchen account and before they complete registration. This is an opt-in checkbox, not pre-checked.

Below is the actual signup form where the phone number field and consent checkbox appear. The consent language is displayed directly adjacent to the checkbox, visible without scrolling:

The SMS consent checkbox is unchecked by default. Customers must actively check it to opt in.

3 Exact consent language

The following text appears verbatim next to the consent checkbox on the account setup form. This language is displayed in full before the customer submits the form:

The consent checkbox is unchecked by default. The customer must actively check the box before clicking "Create account." A customer cannot complete account setup without having the opportunity to read and make a choice on this language. Providing a mobile number without checking the box does not enroll the customer in SMS messages.

4 What happens after opt-in

When a customer checks the SMS consent box and completes account setup:

  1. Their mobile number and opt-in timestamp are stored in ComplianceKitchen's database, associated with their account.
  2. Within a few minutes, they receive a welcome confirmation text identifying ComplianceKitchen and reiterating how to opt out.
  3. They receive subsequent informational messages only when triggered by account activity or an upcoming compliance deadline.

At no point does ComplianceKitchen send unsolicited promotional campaigns, discount offers, or bulk marketing messages to opted-in phone numbers.

5 Sample message types

All messages sent by ComplianceKitchen fall into the following categories. No promotional or marketing messages are sent through this flow.

6 Opt-out instructions

Customers can stop receiving SMS messages at any time using any of the following methods:

Text STOP — Reply STOP to any message from ComplianceKitchen. The customer is immediately removed from all future SMS messages and receives a confirmation text.

Text HELP — Reply HELP to receive a message with support contact information.

Account settings — Customers can remove their mobile number or disable SMS notifications from their account profile page at any time.

Email request — Customers can email help@compliancekitchen.org to be removed from SMS messaging.
